Purpose
Remanence is a personal reading journal designed to keep what a book leaves behind: first impressions, later traces, quotes, notes, and exportable reviews.
The website presents the app. It does not create user accounts, provide a web dashboard, or replace the mobile application.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Remanence lawfully, personally, and with respect for the service, stores, third-party services, and intellectual property rights.
You must not try to disrupt the website, bypass technical limits, extract the service abusively, or use Remanence to store or export illegal content.
Local data and backup
The app is local-first: your books, notes, quotes, settings, and timer sessions live on your device first.
Optional Google Drive backup is only a safety copy chosen by the user. It does not create a social network, public profile, or real-time sync through a Remanence backend.
User content
You remain responsible for the notes, quotes, covers, reviews, and exports you add or share from Remanence.
When you copy or publish a review, quote, or cover elsewhere, you must respect the rights that apply to the relevant books, images, and texts.
Third-party services
Some features may rely on third-party services: BnF, Google Books, and Open Library for ISBN lookup; Google Drive for voluntary backup; Google Play and RevenueCat for Premium.
These services have their own rules, availability, and policies. External unavailability should not block the essential local use of Remanence.
Availability and changes
Remanence is provided with care, but without a guarantee of permanent availability, error-free operation, or compatibility with every device.
Features, copy, and these terms may change. Important changes will be reflected on this page or in the project materials.
